HDU Peer Support Worker - Apprenticeship Opportunity

We are delighted to announce a new 16 bed service based in Doncaster that will welcome patients from Rotherham, Doncaster and North Lincolnshire.
The unit with support patients with complex mental health with a focus on rehabilitation, patients may be in the service for up to 12 months and through a multi-professional approach will receive recovery focussed care.
If you don't already have a Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience in a relevant subject, RDaSH are offering this post alongside the opportunity for you to complete a Level 3apprenticeship qualification [relevant to your role].
As an apprentice within RDaSH you will be given the opportunity to gain experience, learn work-related skills and obtain all the tools needed to thrive.
An apprenticeship includes regular training with a college or other training organisation. Around 20% of your working hours will be spent training or studying. This leads to a nationally recognised qualification.
Whether you already work for us or are joining the Trust and NHS for the first time, apprenticeships can help you to develop the skills, knowledge and know-how in order to embark on a successful and fulfilling career within the health service.

Main duties of the job
To provide rehabilitation and recovery-based services that enable people to define, build and live a meaningful, independent and satisfying life'
The post holder will provide formalised support and assistance to patients in order for them to take control over their own lives and engage actively in their unique recovery process.
We welcome applications from people with lived experience of mental health difficulties and the service encourages the use of the wisdom gained through personal 'lived' experience, to inspire hope in others and the belief that recovery is possible for all. Within a relationship of mutuality the peer support model can facilitate and support information sharing to promote choice, self-determination and opportunities for the fulfilment of socially valued roles with connection to local communities.
The post holder will be part of the clinical team and will work into the high dependency rehabilitation ward. The post requires effective liaison with patients, carers, and other professionals and agencies as required. It will involve the provision of direct physical and psychological based care, offering therapeutic time to a defined client group working at all times within the principles of recovery.
You will be supporting individuals with complex social and mental health histories, we will therefore provide a framework of supervision and trust wellbeing initiatives to enable you to support your own wellbeing and manage the boundaries of the role.

Person Specification
Qualifications
* English and Maths at level 2 or equivalent (GCSE 9-4 or A*- C or functional skills level 2)
* NVQ Level 2 in a related subject
* NVQ level 3 in related subject or willingness to undertake a relevant Level 3 Apprenticeship
Experience
* Demonstrate a keen interest caring for others
* Previous experience of caring for patients in a clinical setting
* Previous experience of working as part of a team
