Job Summary
Band 6 Occupational Therapist to join a dynamic community-based team covering the Scottish Borders. Therapists provide individualised assessment and intervention to a range of children aged 0‑18 with varying occupational difficulties which may be motor, sensory motor and/or neuro‑developmental based, alongside universal and targeted support. Input is provided in a variety of settings, including children’s homes, schools and health centres. Regular clinical supervision and learning opportunities are available to support ongoing professional development.
Responsibilities
Provide individualised assessment and intervention for children aged 0‑18, with occupational difficulties including motor, sensory motor and/or neuro‑developmental concerns; deliver services in children’s homes, schools, health centres; participate in clinical supervision and professional development activities.
Qualifications and Requirements
Post registration experience as an Occupational Therapist; ability to drive and access to a personal vehicle. Must have the right to work in the UK or be eligible for sponsorship before applying.
Working Hours
From 1 April 2026, Agenda for Change full‑time working week is reduced from 37 to 36 hours per week. Part‑time hours will be reduced pro‑rata, with a corresponding increase in hourly rate so pay is not affected.
Legal and Compliance
Due to legislative changes from 1 April 2025, this post may require a different level of criminal record check. If the post is assessed as a “regulated role”, appointment will be subject to the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme. NHS Scotland Boards will check your entitlement to work in the UK. Eligibility includes visa, EU settled status etc. For specific routes, refer to the GOV.UK website.
