Do you want to drive forward the circular economy and influence future waste legislation?
We’re looking for a Senior Advisor to join our Producer Responsibility team to help deliver the Government’s Resources and Waste Strategy.
You’ll work with Environment Agency colleagues, Defra, UK devolved administrations, and Industry to deliver significant legislative changes. You can make a difference.
You’ll need to be adaptable, self-motivated, and able to translate policy into action.
Key responsibilities include:
* Collaborating with stakeholders across government, industry, and the Environment Agency to influence and implement legislation for workstreams such as Packaging and Deposit Return Scheme, with support to other workstreams as needed.
* Providing technical advice within the Environment Agency and to industry.
* Driving reforms in waste management to change how waste is managed in England, including shaping digital systems for waste management and policy development.
We are a dispersed team working across the country, utilizing smart tools to stay connected, with some travel and overnight stays required.
The team:
You’ll join our Producer Responsibility Team, leading on reforming Waste Regulations to meet government ambitions for resource conservation and waste minimization.

Experience and Skills Required
* Ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and cultures, actively encouraging diversity considerations in work.

* Ability to build trusting and respectful relationships.
* Risk-based decision-making skills.
* Knowledge of environmental legislation, especially waste management legislation.
* Drive to innovate and make things happen.
* Strong written and verbal communication skills.
