About the Role:
We are currently seeking a Principal Cost Engineer to join a small, supportive, and fast-paced team within a leading Defence manufacturing organisation.
This role is ideal for someone with strong engineering or manufacturing experience who enjoys working with data, challenging assumptions, and supporting key business decisions through robust cost forecasting and analysis.
You'll work closely with manufacturing, design, and bid teams to support project delivery from early design through to full production and lifecycle analysis.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and maintain accurate cost forecasts across the full project lifecycle
* Support manufacturing and design-to-cost strategies
* Analyse cost data to improve accuracy and transparency
* Lead and facilitate cross-functional meetings with stakeholders
* Work with bid teams to provide cost input for future business
* Continuously improve cost estimation and forecasting processes
* Collaborate with engineering and production teams to gather data
* Maintain cost documentation and reporting tools
What We're Looking For:
* HNC/HND qualification or equivalent in a relevant field
* Solid background in engineering or manufacturing
* Experience in cost engineering or estimating is desirable
* Understanding of manufacturing processes and full product lifecycle
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Confident communicator with the ability to influence and lead discussions
* Able to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines
* Self-motivated, proactive, and able to challenge assumptions
