Overview
Are you a highly motivated, caring and proactive person who is interested in working within an Acute Orthopaedic Hospital setting? We have a part time Band 3 Orthopaedic and General Surgery Occupational Therapy Assistant post at Conquest Hospital.
Responsibilities
* Be flexible in approach, have excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
* Support the Occupational Therapists through clinical supervision and training.
* Undertake specific skilled support work to aid in the rehabilitation and safe discharge of patients.
* Assess, prescribe and provide appropriate equipment to increase patient independence and safety.
* Manage own caseload as delegated by the Occupational Therapist, monitor patient progression and make minor alterations to the patient treatment programme as required.
* Assist the Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists with complex cases that require two people to treat.
* Work unsupervised and at times lone working; report back on patient progress and inform the Occupational Therapist of any problems.
* Assist in the induction of new assistant staff, students and rotational Junior Occupational Therapists.
