Job Summary:
We are looking for a dedicated and professional Optometrist to join our team in Truro, with occasional coverage across the Cornwall area. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team alongside experienced eye care professionals, including ophthalmologists, to provide exceptional clinical care. Your role will be varied, involving pre- and post-operative consultations for refractive and cataract surgery patients, as well as conducting comprehensive eye examinations for a wide range of patients.
Key Responsibilities:
Pre- and Post-Operative Consultations: Provide consultations for patients undergoing refractive and cataract surgery, ensuring they are well-prepared and informed about their procedures.
Clinical Support: Assist ophthalmologists in providing clinical support during consultations and procedures.
Eye Examinations: Conduct both essential and advanced eye examinations to diagnose and manage a wide range of eye conditions.
Patient Education: Explain diagnosis, treatment options, and aftercare procedures to patients clearly and compassionately.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, adhering to clinical guidelines and standards.
Collaboration: Work closely with other members of the eye care team to provide high-quality, patient-centered care.
Team Development:
Mentorship: Contribute to the development of junior staff and other team members, sharing your clinical expertise and knowledge.
Collaboration: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team, including experienced ophthalmologists and optometrists, to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Learning & Growth: Take an active role in your own professional development, attending courses and training relevant to your career and clinical practice.
About You:
The ideal candidate will:
Be a fully qualified Optometrist, registered with the General Optical Council (GOC).
Have experience in comprehensive eye examinations and pre- and post-operative consultations for cataract or refractive surgery.
Possess a strong interest in patient care and a desire to continuously improve your skills.
Have excellent communication skills, with the ability to explain complex medical information in a clear, patient-friendly manner.
Be detail-oriented and able to maintain high standards of documentation and clinical practice.
