Adult Services provides support to adults over the age of 16 years who have assessed needs. The people who use our services have additional support needs associated with learning disability or autism and require support to continue to live independently in their own homes, to attend day support and meaningful activity or have short break respite.
Social Care Worker Practitioners are responsible for providing direct support to individuals and the team in a variety of settings. This can include an individual's own home or supported tenancy, within a Care Inspectorate registered service (supported vocational activity or short breaks), and in the community, enabling the individual to achieve their goals, identified priorities and personal outcomes.
The Social Care Worker Practitioner's role includes ensuring that individuals receive high standards of care and support to help retain their potential level of independence and dignity throughout their lives. This can include intimate personal care, developing daily living skills, training, social activities, session planning and other meaningful activity in accordance with their identified needs and wishes, whilst supporting individuals, as far as possible, to avoid danger and harm.
This vacancy is being advertised as a Career Graded post, which is a career development opportunity. This means that the Council is committed to supporting the successful candidate to obtain the necessary skills, abilities and knowledge to become fully competent in the role. * Rate of pay shown in the advert is inclusive of Distant Islands Allowance of £1.5523 per hour.
* 3 x Permanent Part Time posts for 35 hours per week and 3 x Permanent Part Time posts for 28 hours per week, 52.18 weeks per year.
* Preferred candidates will be required to join the Protecting Vulnerable Groups (PVG) Scheme or undergo a PVG Scheme update prior to a formal offer of employment being made.
* The successful candidate will have to complete registration with the Scottish Social Services Council (SSSC) when they begin in post.
* A relocation package does not apply to this post.
* We will pay interview expenses from within Shetland.
* Ability to travel within the service area – full driving licence is essential.
