MORE THAN JUST A JOB, WE OFFER AN OPPORTUNITY TO GROW
INTERNAL ONLY (DCC Employees Only)
Secondment for 1 year.
Bring your skills and passion to our team and join us as an Advanced Social Worker in Special Guardianship Support and Private Fostering predominantly although there may require some involvement with our child and parent assessment and kinship assessment teams. This is a great opportunity to grow your social work career with an ambitious authority at a time of exciting change. We’ve embedded our restorative practice approach across our teams and have invested in training all practitioners and managers to build and maintain positive relationships with our children, young people and carers. This is a temporary role within the team for an initial period of six months with the potential to extend to a year. The purpose of the role will be to focus on supporting the development of the offer to Special Guardians and children in their care. An intrinsic part of this role will be to review practices in line with relevant legislation and make recommendations to the team manager and service manager on service development.
About the role
Working closely with your Team Manager, you will provide professional leadership and guidance to colleagues within your team, supporting your manager with the day-to-day operations of your team and contributing to an effective and efficient service to children and families.
You have a smaller but more complex caseload, working with children and young people with a complexity of needs (including undertaking in-depth assessments) and where, through supervision and mentoring, you will share your knowledge and experience with colleagues and students to continually improve practice standards within your team.
Predominantly, you will champion high standards of professional social work practice, by encouraging and supporting opportunities for reflection and learning and delivering on-the-job training, coaching, and mentoring to unqualified/alternatively qualified staff, students, and less experienced social workers.
About you
Advanced Social Workers provide a lead social work role within each team, supporting the development of good evidence-based practice. 2. Be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of social work mentoring, coaching, and training professional colleagues
