The School of Engineering, Liverpool John Moores University is seeking to appoint a Software Developer/Researcher for a fixed term of 30 months to join an exciting research and innovation project funded by the UK Research Council EPSRC on digital twinning for crisis resilience, with a case study on port-centric transport systems. You will act as a Software Developer/Researcher to lead research and development work on port data integration, real-time monitoring using sensor data, data consolidation and visualisation for a digital twin platform for crisis resilience. You will participate and contribute to the key process of making sure that the research and its solutions are safe and secured, and in compliance with UKRI's terms and conditions on trusted research and innovation. You will also contribute to making key decisions on methodologies, tools and technologies for the development, as well as potential for commercialisation and wider deployment, with a view to sustaining the team and making the post permanent. Finally, working with the team, you will have the freedom to carry out research and explore new possibilities on modular digital twin research. It is expected that you will have strong, demonstrable programming skills. Demonstrable experience with developing digital twin and simulation models is a must. Preference will be given to candidates with strong experience in developing simulation models/digital twins and optimisation models for ports and maritime systems. You should also have good experience working with cloud-based programming, APIs and data streams.
