Stansfield Place is a 12-bed male step-down rehabilitation unit within the Rehab and High Support Care Hub. It provides care and treatment to individuals with complex mental health and sometimes physical health needs, using a recovery-focused model. We aim to deliver high-quality care to our service users.
Nursing Assistants are crucial in providing care at Stansfield Place. They have the most direct contact with patients and engage with them individually or in groups. The role is broad and varied, working alongside a team of professionals, fostering learning and contribution to high standards of care. The role involves working day shifts, night shifts, and weekends.

Detailed job description and main responsibilities
Main Duties include assisting qualified staff, ensuring safety, providing personal care, participating in care planning, monitoring patient conditions, and supporting therapeutic activities. You will also be responsible for maintaining a safe ward environment, managing challenging behaviours, and ensuring confidentiality and safety protocols are followed. Flexibility across shifts is required to meet service needs.
Other duties involve communication with patients and staff, safeguarding, and participating in team and training activities. The role requires adherence to health and safety policies and ongoing professional development.
Person specification
Education/Qualifications
* GCSEs or equivalent in English, Maths, and Science or Level 2 Functional Skills
* Experience in a care setting, with competencies in basic clinical care
* Fundamental Care Certificate
* ICT skills
* PMVA training or willingness to undertake it
* Willingness to complete required training
Experience
* Experience working with diverse groups and developing care skills
* Previous care experience, including mental health or learning disabilities
* Ability to plan and prioritize work
* Experience building trust and rapport
* Experience with electronic patient records and willingness to learn
Knowledge
* Understanding of mental health, the Mental Health Act, and safeguarding
* Awareness of drug effects and violence prevention practices
