Our Engineering Research and Development department (ER&D) is a fast-growing function within Tata Technologies Limited that is assembled to work on exciting projects globally for multiple customers. It comprises highly specialized engineers across Automotive, Aerospace and Industrial Heavy Machinery.
The Role:
As a Lead Engineer – Cabin Trims you will be responsible for:
·End-to-end project ownership including ands on Catia responsibilities
·Utilising Teamcenter
·Lead boot trim concept maturation for BY634/5/1; drive BY64x protection/commonality, author specs
·Run VisiBOMs
·Prepare bid specs for supplier nomination, and post‑nomination
·Check supplier designs vs. requirements; ensure PLM integrity and RPS alignment to enable tooling.
·Boot trim system strategy and delivery for BY634/5/1 (28MY) ensuring future use on BY64x.
·Lead concept convergence, data drops (EDSP3/5/8), VisiBOM, RPS strategy, DFMEA/DVP governance, manufacturing (Gap & Rad in IEP), and cross-program commonality to minimize investment.
Dimension of Function:
·Technical CAD design leadership of boot trims across PF→KE→BF→VFF→SOP (PEP).
·Governance of concept, design freeze, B-release, K release and validation readiness from India.
·Supplier integration (design responsible supplier) and data ingestion into PLM, Teamcentre
·BY64x requirement protection baked into BY63x designs.
Areas of responsibility:
·Domain: Load floor & side panels, carpets, fasteners, NVH pads, nets/straps, clearances for ICE rear end platform (incl. rear lower crossmember).
·CAD: CATIA 3D/2D updates, VisiBOM build, assembly sequences, interface DMU checks, PDM linkage; publish EDSP WIP weekly.
·Delivery: Timing plan to SOP, DFMEA/DVP for trims, Design Check readiness, sourcing documentation, EDSP3/5/8 compliance.
·Onsite vs Offshore: Onsite reviews, properties & trial support; Offshore CAD loops, documentation, PLM/BoM maintenance.
·KPIs: EDSP on-time, DCP pass rate, minimal late changes post KE/BF, VisiBOM accuracy (>98%).

1. Customer Processes & Systems: PEP (PF→KE→BF→VFF→SOP), EDSP3/5/7/8, KVS (change mgmt), TEVON/AVON (change tracking), TiREX (BoM), KPM (issue mgmt), Teamcenter, BEON, TruFusion, Pulse, LIMS/NOLIS (as applicable), DISS/ODIS (service/diagnostics), IDEX (data exchange).
2. Quality & Validation: DFMEA (to L4/L5), DVP (virtual/physical), Design Check Properties, ESO/TPPA readiness, QMB/Audits, 1st‑off validation, Function Maturity population.
·Metrics & Reporting: Weekly status to R&D, maturity dashboards, risk/mitigation, plan vs actual, CM opportunities, gateway readiness.

6. Requirements & system specification authoring; VisiBOM ownership; sourcing doc (bid spec) preparation.
7. DFMEA facilitation; DVP coverage for trims; Design Check readiness.

8. CATIA 3D/2D ownership of assemblies; LCA tree hygiene; DMU clearance checks.
9. Weekly WIP publications; EDSP3/5/8 compliance; SRD/PDM integrity.

10. Timing to SOP, milestone tracking, risk/mitigation, stakeholder alignment.
11. Post-nomination: assure supplier CAD against requirements; integrate data into PLM; resolve DFM feedbacks.
