Job Title: Lead Verification & Validation Engineer

Role Overview:
The Lead Verification & Validation Engineer will be responsible for ensuring the successful verification and validation of HVDC Control Systems software. The role focuses on designing, developing, and executing control software tests, ensuring compliance with project and customer requirements. This position plays a critical role in guaranteeing both product quality and technical alignment with system specifications.
Key Responsibilities:
* Design and develop comprehensive test cases based on software requirements.
* Execute test procedures and deliver structured, high-quality test reports.
* Analyse test outcomes and communicate findings clearly to engineering teams.
* Identify, document, and track defects and technical issues.
* Lead Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT) with customers.
* Perform gap analysis between standard design specifications and customer technical requirements.
* Provide expertise for RTDS lab setups, including AC/DC interfaces, Plant Emulator interfaces, and RSCAD modelling & verification.
* Ensure alignment with project milestones and manage test schedules accordingly.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives, introducing new tools, methods, and best practices.
* Promote standardization, solution re-use, and improved quality/reliability in delivery.
* Troubleshoot lab setup issues and debugging challenges effectively.
Essential Requirements:
* Engineering degree in Electrical/Power Engineering (or equivalent HVDC experience).
* Strong understanding of Software Development Life Cycle (SDLC), particularly the V-Model.
* Solid knowledge of power systems and functional characteristics.
* Demonstrated problem-solving skills in test environments and lab setups.
* Ability to interpret complex software requirements.
* Strong communication skills (written and verbal).
* Ability to manage technical risks and work under pressure to meet deadlines.
* Flexibility with working hours when required.
Preferred Experience:
* Experience with Agile/Scrum methodologies and tools such as Jira.
* Experience with test management tools.
* Knowledge of HVDC control systems, protection, sequencing strategy, and station equipment interlocking design.
* Hands-on experience with PSCAD, RSCAD, MATLAB, PSS/E, MATCAD, etc.
* Understanding of LCC and VSC converter technologies.
* Experience with dynamic performance studies.
* Familiarity with electrical standards such as IEC 61850, IEC 62351, IEEE 15288, NERC/CIP, etc.
* Prior experience within the HVDC industry is highly desirable.
