Catering assistants are vital team members who support the smooth functioning of the kitchen, uphold hygiene standards, and contribute to a positive dining experience for staff within the office. Your key duties Supporting the Catering Manager: Catering assistants collaborate closely with the catering manager to ensure that menu meals are prepared and delivered to the required standard. They assist in maintaining the overall efficiency of kitchen operations. Involved in ad-hoc duties given by the catering manager. Maintaining Cleanliness and Order: Catering assistants actively contribute to the cleanliness and organisation of various areas within the kitchen, including tea points, dining areas, the main kitchen, pantry, and storage spaces. Their role involves regular cleaning, sanitisation, and proper storage of utensils, equipment, and ingredients. Food Preparation and Cooking: Hygiene is paramount. Catering assistants follow strict hygiene practices while preparing food. They participate in food preparation, ensuring that ingredients are fresh, properly handled, and cooked to meet safety standards. Basic knowledge of cake/ biscuits made fresh Knowledge of Storing and Labelling Foods Sound Knowledge of Food Health and Safety Breakfast and Lunch Service: Catering assistants play an integral role in the preparation and serving of breakfast and lunch. They assist in setting up stations, plating meals, and ensuring timely service to diners. Prepping Salads / Sandwiches/ Quiche / Sausage Rolls etc Restocking and Inventory Management: Responsible for restocking the breakfast bar and salad bar, catering assistants maintain an inventory of necessary items. They monitor stock levels, replenish supplies, and organise storage areas efficiently. Active Participation in Food Service: During meal service, catering assistants contribute by serving food to customers. They ensure that portions are accurate, presentation is appealing, and diners’ needs are met. Responsible for taking catering to meeting rooms and event spaces.
