The Role
1. Teach a Year 4 class and deliver well-structured lessons.
2. Plan sequences of learning aligned to the National Curriculum.
3. Mark work efficiently and use feedback to move learning on.
4. Assess progress and adapt teaching to close gaps.
5. Build strong routines and a calm, consistent classroom culture.
6. Work closely with your mentor and phase lead to hit clear development goals.
ECT Induction Support
7. A funded ECT induction programme across two years, with a named induction tutor and regular check-ins to keep you on track.
8. Reduced timetable (10% in Year 1 and 5% in Year 2) so you get protected time for planning, CPD, and observation.
9. Weekly mentoring with an experienced teacher, focused on your subject/phase, behaviour routines, and workload shortcuts that actually work.
10. A clear training and evidence plan mapped to the Early Career Framework, with bite-size targets and support if you hit a wobble.
11. Regular lesson observations and feedback (supportive, not “gotcha”), plus chances to watch strong colleagues and steal their best practice guilt-free.
The Candidate
12. Holds QTS (or due to achieve QTS by September 2026).
13. Ready to commit to a permanent Year 4 ECT role.
14. Confident with KS2 expectations and keen to improve quickly with feedback.
15. Meets the minimum requirement of GCSE English and Maths at grade 4/C or above.
16. Willing to complete an enhanced DBS check and follow safeguarding procedures at all times.
