Main Duties
* Provide nursing care for in-patients and out-patients
* Update and record observations of in-patients regularly
* Care for unwell pupils in the Health Centre, including providing light meals (training on food hygiene provided)
* Supervise morning surgeries with doctors; ensure daily doctor visits for in-patients
* Assist with out-patient care, including triage, venepuncture, and wound care
* Administer medicines and treatments, including asthma and allergy care
* Assess and treat minor injuries and sports injuries
* Provide travel and routine immunisations
* Engage in health promotion and education on various topics
* Conduct medicals for new pupils, updating records accurately
* Participate in training and team development activities, including training on asthma, diabetes, ADHD, epilepsy, and anaphylaxis
* Provide First Aid to staff on site
* Work flexibly on a rota, including late and night on-call shifts
* Promote good nursing care practices
* Operate within relevant legislation, policies, and procedures
* Undertake additional duties as needed, maintaining the role's level of responsibility
* Promote equality, diversity, and inclusion
* Adhere to safeguarding procedures, understanding the importance of child protection
* Commit to safeguarding and child welfare, completing necessary training and updates
* Maintain confidentiality and comply with related legislation
The Ideal Candidate
The successful candidate will have:
Registered Nurse status with a valid NMC PIN
At least 1 year of post-registration experience and ongoing education in nursing
Good IT skills
Desirable: Dual qualification RN/Child Branch
Understanding of the NMC code of conduct
Experience with immunisations, diabetes, asthma, and minor injuries is desirable
Experience in health education and promotion is desirable
Experience working with young people in a school setting is desirable
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Additional qualities include initiative, teamwork, and excellent communication skills
The role involves working a two-week rota with specific days and hours, including some night shifts.
