One-to-one Learning Support Assistant in Year 6. We are seeking a SEND Learning Support Assistant to work within a small friendly SEND and pastoral care team within a vibrant community school. You will be supporting a child with physical needs under the guidance of the Year 6 teachers and be working with the Occupational and Physical Therapists. You will also be involved with working with SEND children on their individual learning plans, conducting assessments and delivering interventions. You will work with any outside agencies to implement the support they suggest. Your responsibilities: Supporting pupils building positive relationships with pupils, promoting high self-esteem and independence adapting communication style to respond to pupils according to their individual needs promoting high standards of behaviour, responding to incidents in line with the school’s behaviour policy and guidelines on physical intervention assisting with the development and delivery of individual education and support plans delivering small group and individual interventions outside the classroom completing assessments to determine the support needed for individual children. Teaching and learning contribute to the planning of differentiated learning activities as advised by outside agencies and SEND Co for individuals outside the classroom use ICT skills to advance pupils’ learning provide regular feedback to teachers on pupil progress regarding the targets set by outside agencies and those on their pupil profile monitor, record and report on progress and attainment to staff in school, parents and outside agencies contribute to the overall ethos, aims and work of the school. You will need: GCSE or equivalent level, including at least a Grade 4 (previously Grade C) in English and Mathematics is not essential but preferable experience working in a school environment or other educational setting experience working with children / young people with special educational needs (SEN) experience planning and delivering learning activities.
