Our client, acollaborative and nurturing international firm, is looking for a Property & Casualty Paralegal/Claims Handler to join their vibrant and growing Insurance Group in Bristol. The firm has a well-established client base, acting for the vast majority of household andmercial property insurers in the market, as well as some large insureds and cover holders. The team handles a wide variety of claims arising out of property damage, including (amongst other things) fire, water, subsidence, construction and impact damage.
This role is based in our clients Bristol office however you will be able to work remotely from home for part of the week if desired as the firm operates a hybrid working policy.
Your new role
The Property & Casualty team is looking for a Paralegal/Claims Handler to join their expanding team in Bristol. This role involves managing a caseload of subrogated property recovery claims on behalf of a range of insurers. The successful candidate will handle claims from initial instruction through the pre-action stage and into litigation where necessary, so familiarity with the Civil Procedure Rules is essential. The work is varied, with opportunities to take ownership of cases ranging in value from £10,000 to several million pounds. There is also scope to contribute to business development and client initiatives.
In addition to managing a high-volume caseload, the role includes delivering timely, high-quality service in line with client expectations, maintaining accurate management information, and supporting the ongoing development of the team’s processes and service delivery.
What you'll need to succeed
You will have prior Claims Handling and/or litigation experience, including running a case load. Experience of Insurance is preferable but not essential. Our client is happy to consider candidates with either a law degree, those working towards ACII, CILEx or equivalent legal qualification, or alternatively you might have significant experience in claims, with technical knowledge and experience. Candidates should have litigation experience and a familiarity with Civil Procedure Rules.
An understanding of how to provide excellent customer service is essential, and you will be hardworking, enthusiastic and motivated, withpetent skills in Microsoft Office. Previous experience of using a case management system is desirable.
