Overview:
First Military Recruitment is currently seeking a Maintenance Engineer on behalf of one of our clients.

Duties and Responsibilities:
1. Ensure zero RIDDOR accidents by promoting a health and safety culture.
2. Review systems of work to ensure safety procedures are in place.
3. Attend weekly health and safety meetings and report findings.
4. Investigate accidents/incidents and implement preventive actions.
5. Maintain risk assessments and review them regularly.
6. Conduct health, safety, and environment audits and address issues.
7. Encourage hazard and near-miss reporting.
8. Follow safety requirements when working on machinery.
9. Ensure the safety of all team members during work.
10. Develop personal and team skills for flexible working.
11. Mentor new starters to integrate into the team.
12. Work with production teams on machine setup, changeovers, and maintenance.
13. Contribute to quality and food safety standards.
14. Promote right first time (RFT) for repairs and maintenance.
15. Implement hygiene and cleaning procedures for all equipment.
16. Complete monthly self-audits and ensure documentation compliance.
17. Perform root cause analysis on equipment failures and report findings.
18. Follow hygiene and environmental requirements during machinery work.
19. Collaborate as a team to meet weekly workload targets.
20. Ensure colleagues have necessary skills for effective maintenance.
21. Investigate ongoing equipment issues.
22. Champion continuous improvement techniques.
23. Manage budgets and use data to reduce downtime costs.
24. Monitor and minimize wastage and material usage.
25. Liaise with stores for parts procurement and maintain critical spares list.
26. Coordinate with management on machinery installation and downtime planning.
27. Adhere to quality management systems and standards (ISO9001, BRC, ISO 14001).
28. Undertake training to enhance skills.
29. Perform other duties within capability and uphold brand standards.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Electrical/mechanical engineering qualification (minimum level 3 NVQ or equivalent).
2. Experience in electrical/mechanical engineering.
3. Ability to work independently and in teams.
4. Proficiency with touch screen controls.
5. Problem-solving skills.
6. Flexibility in hours and tasks, including shifts and weekends.
7. Food industry experience on bottling lines preferred but not essential.
8. Experience with site services (chillers, compressors, steam systems, etc.).
9. Experience with inkjet coders.
10. Knowledge of wiring regulations (17th/18th edition).
11. BOAS, FLT trained, confined spaces, inverter motor control, PLC experience, welding, machining skills.
Shifts:
Two consecutive shifts from 06:00-18:00, followed by two shifts from 18:00-06:00, then four days off.
