Our customer, a global law firm is seeking an experienced Costs Lawyer to join their team on an initial three-month basis. This is a full-time, contentious role requiring a proactive individual with strong technical expertise in legal costs and a commercial approach to maximising recovery.
You will manage a varied caseload of costs matters, provide strategic advice on recoverability, and work closely with fee earners to optimise cost outcomes across the firm.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting and reviewing Bills of Costs
* Preparing Points of Dispute and Replies
* Conducting costs negotiations and achieving favourable settlements
* Managing detailed assessment proceedings
* Preparing, reviewing and managing costs budgets
* Advising fee earners on costs strategy, proportionality and risk
* Identifying opportunities to maximise cost recovery and minimise exposure
Candidate Requirements
* Qualified Costs Lawyer or equivalent demonstrable experience
* Strong technical knowledge of CPR and detailed assessment procedures
* Proven experience handling contentious costs matters independently
* Excellent drafting and negotiation skills
* Commercially minded with the ability to provide pragmatic advice
* Ability to manage deadlines effectively in a fast-paced environment
