Job type: Permanent, Full Time. Monday - Friday, 8:00 am - 5:00 pm. (30-minute unpaid break)

We are now looking for a dedicated and experienced Delivery Driver to join our Chelmsford-based operation and play a key role in supporting our next chapter of success.
About the Role:
As a Delivery Driver at PDC, you will be an essential part of our team, ensuring that products are transported and delivered safely, efficiently, and with professionalism. Our drivers are often the face of the company, so we are seeking individuals who can deliver more than just goods – we want people who provide a gold-standard service with every customer interaction.
You will be responsible for completing daily routes across London and surrounding areas, with 10–15 scheduled drops each day. Unlike many delivery roles, we provide generous time allowances to enable you to not only deliver but also assist customers in placing goods where needed. Key Responsibilities:
* Safely deliver plumbing products to businesses, completing approx. 10–15 drops daily following a pre-routed delivery schedule.
* Build strong relationships with customers by providing a professional, friendly, and respectful service.
* Carry out daily vehicle safety checks and ensure your van remains clean, tidy, and fully roadworthy.
* Load, transport, and unload items securely, ensuring all goods are handled with care.
* Use navigation tools, including Max Optra software, to plan the most efficient delivery routes.
* Collect customer signatures and capture photo proof of delivery.
* Report any accidents, incidents, or vehicle issues promptly using company reporting systems.
* Assist in various warehouse duties if returning before shift end with training provided
* Operate company mobile devices to manage tasks and track deliveries in real-time.
* Work collaboratively with other departments, reporting any customer queries or order errors to help improve overall operations.

Requirements:
- To be successful, you must meet the following:
- Over 30 years of age (for insurance purposes).
- A full, clean UK driving licence.
- Experience driving a long wheelbase van.
- Previous delivery and/or warehouse operations experience.
- Ability to safely lift up to 25kg.
- Strong geographical knowledge of London, Essex, and surrounding areas.
- Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills.
- GCSE Maths and English (Grade C/4 or above).
- A reliable, customer-focused, and safety-conscious approach.
- Able to keep up with demand of faced paced environment
- Permanent access to your own vehicle for commuting – our East Hanningfield site (CM3 8EB) is not accessible via public transport.
Desired Skills:
- Previous distribution driving experience.
- Knowledge and confident of driving vans in London, Essex, and Kent routes.
- Strong teamwork and accountability mindset.
- Customer service experience.
- Living within 30/40 minutes of CM3 8EB.
