Job Overview
Help us lead the future of commercial aircraft modification in the BGS (Boeing Global Services) EASA Modifications Team. This early career Part 21J Cabin Interiors\u2C, Design & Certification Engineer will drive safety, technical excellence, innovation and best practices within a matrix organization structure. Reporting to the Aircraft Interior Modifications Manager, the successful candidate will support all BGS EASA Modification activities to develop, certify and integrate new interior design solutions such as interior cabin changes, Cargo Handling, Water & Waste Systems and Exterior Liveries.
The candidate will work directly with airline and leasing customers while collaborating with BGS global engineering services team across multiple time-zones using a variety of 3-D and 2-D Computer Aided Design (CAD) tools and other design methods, guided by the EASA Design Organisation Handbook (DOH) for all Boeing aircraft models (747, 767, 777, 787, 737NG, 737MAX).
Key Responsibilities
* Support the development of innovative aerospace designs and modifications.
* Participate in the creation of detailed design documentation, including CAD models, engineering drawings, and specifications.
* Assist in the development and execution of test plans and procedures.
* Collaborate with cross-functional teams to ensure compliance with EASA/FAA regulations and Part 21J DOA requirements.
* Prepare and review certification documents, including compliance reports, safety assessments, and risk analyses.
* Participate in certification projects, supporting the approval of new designs and modifications.
* Liaise with regulatory authorities and internal stakeholders to address certification issues and obtain necessary approvals.
* Provide technical support to production, testing, and maintenance teams.
* Assist in troubleshooting design and certification issues, proposing and implementing solutions.
* Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives within the design and certification processes.
* Stay updated with the latest industry trends, technologies, and regulatory changes.
Required Qualifications
* Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in an engineering discipline.
* Strong understanding of aerospace design principles and engineering fundamentals.
* Familiarity with CAD software such as CATIA and 3DExperience and engineering analysis tools.
* Basic knowledge of EASA/FAA regulations and certification processes.
* Excellent problem‑solving skills and attention to detail.
* Effective communication and teamwork abilities.
* Enthusiasm for learning and professional development.
* Previous internship or project experience in aerospace design and certification is a plus.
Work Authorisation
This requisition is for a locally hired position in either the UK or Ireland. Candidates must have current legal authorisation to work immediately in the UK or Ireland. Boeing will not attempt to obtain immigration and labour sponsorship for any applicants.
