Salary

Come and join us leading a team as a Garage Manager, within our London business, working for a sustainable, diverse and community-focused employer who puts its people at the heart of its business.
Keeping London’s people moving and the safety and support of our people is paramount and our vision is to help people lead more sustainable lives, harnessing new and greener technology, whilst protecting our people and customers. The health and wellbeing of our diverse people is a priority as we support people to be themselves at work and supporting our local communities with our charitable partnerships.
Open 24 hours a day, 364 days a year, you will be leading on the delivery of the iconic red London bus services that are the foundation around which London’s world-renowned public transport services are built.
Operating safe and reliable bus services in one of the most diverse and operationally challenging cities in the world is not for the faint-hearted, and is one of the ultimate challenges in day-to-day urban bus operation.
Your challenge will be to deliver efficient and effective bus services on a daily basis to meet our customers’ expectations, while adhering closely to company policies, meeting our contractual standards and obligations to Transport for London, and all statutory requirements.
In addition, you’ll lead, motivate, develop and engage your team, promoting our vision and values, as well as addressing performance issues and matters of concern for your people.
Managing the performance of a large team of drivers, through a small but dedicated team of management, supervisory and administrators, one of the principle daily objectives will be to make sure our bus services leave the garage safely and on time, with drivers who are engaged, smart, customer focused, and properly trained and prepared to understand and meet our customers’ expectations. We expect that you’ll quickly resolve any operational problems whilst working in a close and constructive partnership with the engineering and service performance teams.
You will need to lead on engagement, health, safety, wellbeing, security and environmental issues whilst adhering to working time/drivers’ hour’s regulations, whilst championing our values. The ability to communicate effectively and forge positive working relationships with all employees and their representatives is essential, as is the ability to work within your garage’s budget and measure performance against it, whilst achieving agreed key performance targets and quality standards relating to driver performance and behaviour, driving standards, and customer service.
As you might expect, we’re looking for a proven highly motivated manager/leader with excellent people management skills, who know how to get the best out of their team through motivation and empathy, but are equally determined to tackle difficult issues when required. You will set high standards in all aspects of your performance and interaction with others, as well as being highly organised, and able to successfully plan, analyse, prioritise, and deliver against agreed objectives. A naturally flexible individual, you’ll also work well under pressure. A recognised professional transport related qualification is welcomed, although we will give you the opportunity to acquire this.
