Job Summary
West London CAMHS is looking for an 0.4 WTE Team Lead (Band 8b) to join an innovative new North West London Non‑Violent Resistance (NVR) Support and Intervention Service pilot on a 12‑month fixed‑term basis. The pilot aims to provide access to Non‑Violent Resistance (NVR) for the families and carers of neuro‑divergent young people aged 0 to 18 currently on the Dynamic Support Register (DSR).
Responsibilities
* Cover young people and families registered with a GP and resident within North West London boroughs: Hounslow, Hammersmith & Fulham, Ealing, Hillingdon, Harrow, Brent, Westminster, and Kensington and Chelsea.
* Clinically lead the pilot, involving service development and stakeholder consultation with health, social care and third‑sector organisations.
* Line‑manage clinical staff and provide opportunities to co‑deliver NVR interventions.
* Support and implement commitments to staff wellbeing, manageable job plans and opportunities for professional development.
* Provide regular supervision in partnership with the CAMHS Head of Discipline.
Person Specification
Qualifications
Essential
* Professional knowledge from a degree or doctorate level qualification in: Family and Systemic Psychotherapy; Clinical or Counselling Psychology (or equivalent if trained overseas); Nursing RMN/RNC; Child and Adolescent Psychotherapy (eligible for full membership of the Association of Child Psychotherapists); Social Work with additional therapeutic qualifications; or Occupational Therapy.
* Current professional registration as applicable: NMC, HCPC, SWE, ACP or UKCP.
* Post‑qualification training in supervision and specialist application of formal therapy models.
* Completion of Foundation and Advanced level NVR training.
Desirable
* Further training in one or more therapeutic approaches e.g. CBT, DBT, EMDR.
Experience
Essential
* Extensive post‑registration experience including supervisory and leadership roles.
* Extensive experience working with a wide variety of client groups, across the whole life‑course, presenting problems reflecting the full range of clinical severity and across the age range 0‑18, including high‑degree professionalism in the face of emotive or distressing problems, verbal abuse and threat of physical abuse.
* Substantial experience working with Children and Young People in mental health crisis.
* Experience of assessment and intervention with individuals with neurodevelopmental difficulties.
* Experience of exercising full clinical responsibility for clients’ psychological care and treatment as a care coordinator and within a multidisciplinary care plan.
* Experience of teaching and training.
* Experience of multi‑agency working.
* Significant experience delivering professional, clinical and management supervision to qualified mental health practitioners.
* Experience of and commitment to service development.
Desirable
* Experience of multi‑agency working specific to neuro‑divergent children and young people.
* Experience of applying mental health knowledge and skills in different cultural contexts.
Knowledge & Skills
Essential
* Skills in the use of complex methods of assessment, intervention and management requiring sustained concentration.
* Well‑developed communicative skills, orally and in writing, to convey complex, highly technical and/or clinically sensitive information to clients, families, carers and other professional colleagues within and outside the NHS.
* Skills in providing consultation to professional and non‑professional groups.
* Knowledge of legislation relating to the client group and mental health.
* Evidence of continuing professional development as recommended by professional bodies.
Desirable
* Knowledge and skills in specialist assessment and intervention with specific groups (looked‑after children, learning disabilities, neurodevelopmental disorders, adolescent mental health, trauma, anxiety and mood disorders).
* Knowledge of therapies applied to children with special educational needs and neurodevelopmental conditions.
* Knowledge of legislation, policies and processes relating to neuro‑divergent children and young people (LAEP, CTSR, DSR, EHCPs).
