At Team Support we are looking for a Hospital Porter to join our clients team based in Swindon.
As an Emergency Department (ED) Hospital Porter you will play a vital role in ensuring the smooth and efficient running of the Emergency Department by safely transporting patients, equipment, and materials across the hospital. This role supports clinical teams in delivering high-quality, responsive patient care within a fast-paced and unpredictable environment.
Shifts will be 8AM - 8PM, on a 4 on 4 off Rota meaning weekend work will be mandatory.
We are looking for someone to begin on the 10th November
You must already have a CLEAR VALID DBS
Key Responsibilities
Patient Transport
Escort and transfer patients by wheelchair, trolley, or bed to and from wards, diagnostic areas, theatres, and other departments.
Use appropriate manual handling techniques and equipment (e.g., pat slides, hoists) to ensure patient comfort and safety.
Provide reassurance and maintain patient dignity at all times.
Equipment and Supply Management
Safely move, deliver, and retrieve medical equipment, furniture, and supplies as required.
Handle, fit, and distribute medical gas cylinders following hospital safety protocols.
Sample and Specimen Delivery
Transport blood, specimens, and medical records promptly and securely to pathology, laboratories, and blood banks.
Pharmacy Duties
Collect and deliver prescriptions, drug charts, and medication between the pharmacy and the ED or wards.
Waste and Linen Management
Dispose of clinical and general waste appropriately, including hazardous materials, in line with infection control procedures.
Deliver and distribute clean linen and remove soiled items for laundering.
Emergency Support
Provide assistance during emergency situations (e.g., cardiac arrests, fire alarms) as directed by clinical staff.
Respond quickly and efficiently to urgent porter calls.
Deceased Patient Handling
Transfer deceased patients to the mortuary respectfully and discreetly, following hospital protocols and maintaining confidentiality.
General Duties
Assist with ad-hoc tasks such as internal post and parcel delivery, maintaining tidiness of work areas, and supporting minor security duties when required.
Ensure trolleys, wheelchairs, and equipment are clean and in good working order.
