Location : This role is a flexible hybrid working arrangement with an expectation that up to three days of the week will be spent working from the office where the team operates in Sheffield. There may also be some travel to our wastewater assets so a driving licence is needed. Work type: Permanent. 37 hours per week, Monday - Friday. We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Asset Planning Sponsor to join the Integrated Catchment Team at Yorkshire Water and be a part of helping Yorkshire Water to provide the best service to our customers. The Wastewater Service Delivery Team are a key part of how we plan to meet the changing expectations of customers and regulators. Where you fit in! As our Senior Asset Planning Sponsor, in the integrated catchment team, you will lead and support a hub of Asset Planning Sponsors, providing tactical direction and technical guidance in the investigation, diagnosis, and development of solutions for catchment and compliance risks. You will ensure that all proposed interventions align with the relevant investment plans and represent the most effective TOTEX (total expenditure) solutions. A key part of your role will be to articulate the rationale behind investment decisionswhether they require immediate delivery or should inform future asset plans. You will work closely with the wider Asset Planning teams to ensure clarity, alignment, and strategic foresight across all planning horizons. Key responsibilities: Lead End-to-End Catchment Investigations. Own and manage key investigation programmes, ensuring outputs are delivered in alignment with tactical and strategic objectives. Develop and Maintain Tactical Investment Plans. Collaborate with Asset Planning Sponsors to create and maintain live asset and catchment management plans that support Yorkshire Waters strategic goals and regulatory commitments. Drive Process Development. Identify, define, and implement new processes to support tactical planning. Engage stakeholders to embed technical and process standards across the team. Oversee Programme Delivery. Provide oversight across multiple programmes to ensure priorities are aligned with tactical plans. Share risks, insights, and lessons learned to drive continuous improvement and efficiency. Output Assurance. Support sponsors with technical and programme assurance, ensuring that outputs meet programme requirements and are properly documented, filed, and quality assured. What skills & qualifications you will need: Asset Management Expertise. Comprehensive understanding of asset management principles and processes, with proven experience in operational and/or strategic leadership within commercially driven or regulated environments. Wastewater Systems Knowledge. Extensive technical knowledge and hands-on experience with wastewater assets and catchment operations. Advanced Analytical Capability. Strong analytical mindset with the ability to investigate, diagnose, and develop strategic solutions at a catchment level. Investment Plan Awareness. Familiarity with Yorkshire Waters AMP8 investment plans and their asset and catchment strategy. Leadership & Collaboration. Excellent communication and leadership skills, with a track record of successful collaboration with contractors, suppliers, and internal stakeholders. Leading Performance Investigations. Demonstrated experience in conducting and leading detailed investigation programmes that look into performance shortfalls across wastewater assets and catchments. Data Proficiency. Skilled in interpreting various asset data types and applying insights to assess and mitigate asset and catchment risks. Innovation & Value Creation. Innovative approach to identifying and trialling new technologies or working methods that deliver measurable value to the business. Business Case Development. Strong capability in developing robust business cases, clearly articulating associated risks, benefits, and strategic alignment to influence key stakeholders. Risk Awareness. Sound understanding of site risks throughout the investigation and delivery lifecycle, with the ability to proactively manage and mitigate them. You will also benefit from having: Catchment Modelling Proficiency. Familiarity with catchment modelling tools and their application in strategic planning and solution development. Regulatory & Environmental Insight. Strong awareness of relevant regulatory frameworks and environmental policies influencing wastewater asset management. Programme & Portfolio Leadership. Demonstrated experience in managing complex programmes and portfolios, ensuring alignment with strategic objectives and investment priorities. Professional Accreditation. Have achieved or working towards an asset management qualification (e.g. IAM or equivalent), supporting a structured and informed approach to asset lifecycle planning.
