System Architect - Spacecraft Missions
£650-700 per day

iO Associates is looking for a System Architect for a spacecraft missions, responsible for defining mission architecture and ensuring technical success across the full mission lifecycle. This role leads system-level engineering activities and coordinates multidisciplinary teams covering the space segment, ground segment, launch, and in-orbit operations.
Key responsibilities include:
Defining and managing system requirements and interfaces in line with ECSS standards,
Maintaining the technical baseline, managing system budgets and risks, and overseeing verification and validation activities.
Provides technical leadership across all spacecraft subsystems, ensures effective interface control, and supports design reviews, AIT, launch, and in-orbit operations.
The role works closely with program management, customers, partners, and subcontractors, supporting contract negotiations, anomaly investigations, and future mission proposals.
Required experience:
10+ years in the spacecraft industry
Proven technical leadership, strong system-engineering expertise, knowledge of spacecraft operations and ground systems, and hands-on experience across multiple engineering domains.
Confidence leading complex, multidisciplinary teams and delivering end-to-end space missions is essential.
