Management Accountant
Middleby UK, based in Wigan, is part of the USA-based Middleby Corporation. We import Commercial Kitchen Equipment designed and manufactured by other businesses within the Middleby Corporation for the UK market. Our products are prominent in many national chains across the UK.
We are seeking an experienced Management Accountant to join our busy team. The role focuses on financial and cost control, process excellence, and analysis and presentation of management information. The ideal candidate will be self-motivated, able to work independently, and define their own work schedule and priorities. They should work comfortably across all levels within the company and the wider Middleby group, with a positive, supportive, and value-added approach.
Key Areas of Responsibility
* Managing the finance department, including a Credit Controller and an Accounts Assistant.
* Producing monthly management and financial accounts accurately and promptly.
* Updating and modernising financial controls, processes, and procedures.
* Developing effective MI/KPI reporting suites to provide full visibility over business performance, efficiency, costs, and revenue/profit streams.
* Managing the budget process, including ownership of the annual budget and developing input tools.
* Collating and analysing complex data from various sources to feed into the budget model.
* Presenting the budget analysis to senior management and wider management teams.
* Preparing and explaining bridging analyses for changes from prior years.
* Forecasting and monitoring accounts, adjusting forecasts as needed.
* Reporting on budget updates and variances.
* Managing Cash Flow Forecasting and Cash Management.
* Working with auditors on statutory accounts.
* Conducting Variance and Sales & Margin Analysis.
* Completing VAT Returns and all HMRC/Government reporting.
* Overseeing Intercompany reconciliations.
* Leading Capex activities.
* Collaborating with departments to support budgeting and financial planning.
Qualifications, Knowledge, Skills, and Experience
* Qualified accountant, preferably CIMA.
* Working knowledge of Sage 50 is desirable.
* Skilled in interpreting complex financial data, proficient in Excel, and familiar with Access or similar applications.
* Ability to present financial data to both financial and non-financial audiences at all levels.
* Ability to bridge finance and business understanding, interpreting financial data and concepts.
* Detail-oriented with an understanding of the bigger picture.
* Thorough knowledge of management accounting principles.
* Experience in a group/multinational organization, familiar with group reporting standards and deadlines.
