Job Purpose
You will contribute to a project “PROFOUND-Prostate: Changes in functional ability and help-seeking behaviours among prostate cancer patients from resource-challenged areas in Scotland” working with Dr Grigorios Kotronoulas and Dr Xianghua (Sharon) Ding. The successful candidate will also be expected to provide support with development of IT solutions, production of time-series plots, and IT support and troubleshooting as required at key time-points in the life of the project.
Main Duties and Responsibilities
1. Plan and conduct assigned IT work for research and individually or jointly in accordance with the project deliverables and project/group/School/College research strategy.
2. Help set up an online survey for data collection for the project.
3. Write programs to automatically produce graph report based on the survey data, and eevelop a website for the display of graphs.
4. Maintain records and databases, draft technical/progress reports and papers as appropriate.
5. Contribute to the presentation of work at international and national conferences, at internal and external seminars, colloquia and workshops to develop and enhance our research profile.
6. Collaborate with colleagues and participate in team/ group/ meetings/ seminars/ workshops across the research Group/School/College/University and wider community.
7. Contribute to the organisation, supervision, mentoring and training of undergraduate and/or less experienced members of the project team to ensure their effective development.
8. Keep up to date with current knowledge and recent advances in the field/discipline.
9. Engage in continuing professional development activities as appropriate.
10. Contribute to the enhancement of the University’s international profile in line with the University’s Strategic Plan, Inspiring People Changing The World.

Knowledge and Qualifications
Essential:
* A1 SCQF Level 10 (Honours degree) in Computing Science or a relevant subject. A comprehensive and up-to-date knowledge of the wider subject area or subject specialism
Desirable:
* B1 An awarded Master in subject specialism or equivalent

Essential:
* C1 Solid programming skills
* C2 Strong web application development skills
* C3 Research creativity and cross-discipline collaborative ability as appropriate
* C4 Excellent communication skills (oral and written), including public presentations and ability to communicate complex data/concepts clearly and concisely
* C5 Excellent interpersonal skills including team working and a collegiate approach
* C6 Appropriate workload/time/project/budget/people management skills
* C7 Extensive IT and data analysis/interpretation skills as appropriate

Experience
Essential:
* E1 Sufficient relevant research experience (or equivalent) appropriate to an early career researcher
* E2 Sufficient IT application development, and maintenance experience
* E3 Experience of scientific writing
* E4 Proven ability to deliver quality outputs in a timely and efficient manner
* E5 Evidence of an emerging track record of publications in a relevant field

Terms and Conditions
Salary will be Grade 6, £33,951 - £37,694 per annum pro rata.
This post is part-time (10.5 hours per week), and open ended with funding available for up to 15 months in the first instance.
