We are looking for a motivated Band 6 Specialist Dietitian for 12 months fixed term maternity leave cover, commencing January 2026.
You will have the opportunity to work across a range of different mental health units within Greater Manchester. You will manage a complex caseload which will include older adults, mother and baby, substance misuse, adults of working age. You will be looking at all aspects of Dietetic care; including weight management, diabetes, nutrition support, enteral feeding, eating disorders and much more. You will be working closely with the multidisciplinary team and help to supervise a team of Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and Student Dietitians.
Main duties of the job
To ensure that the highest professional standards and attitudes are maintained at all times so that care is delivered in accordance with evidence-based practice/research.
The post holder will be professionally accountable for their own complex caseload and also responsible for overseeing an effective/high quality specialist Dietetic Service across the Trust; supporting Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and Student Dietitians. The post holder will work flexibly across a range of services providing input into mental health services using evidence based and person-centred principles, to assess, plan, implement and evaluate treatment.
To be professionally and legally accountable for all aspects of professional and clinical work, working to agreed local, national and professional standards.
In addition to this the post holder will provide specialist advice to the Trust and support the organisation to deliver its food and nutrition policies through the provision of specialist advice, resources, training and education.
The post holder will be responsible for ensuring that Dietetic Assistant Practitioners receive supervision and support appropriate to their role and ensure that Appraisals are in place.

Education/Qualifications
Essential criteria
1. Degree in Nutrition and Dietetics or degree and post graduate qualification in Dietetics
2. HCPC registered Dietician
3. Evidence of CPD and Professional Portfolio
Desirable criteria
4. British Dietetic Association Specialist Courses.
5. Advanced Diploma in Dietetic Practice.
6. Accessing or willing to undertake master’s level programme.
7. Post graduate training relevant to mental health such as cognitive behavioural counselling, motivational interviewing skills.
8. Clinical supervision skills.
9. Leadership and management training.
Experience
Essential criteria
10. Be able to demonstrate post qualification experience of up to 2 years within various clinical settings and age groups relevant to the post.
11. Ability to work effectively as a member of a multidisciplinary team
Desirable criteria
12. Experience of assessing and managing the nutritional needs of mental health service users, including: dementia, forensic, adolescent, alcohol and drugs and general adults.
13. Collaborative and partnership working.
14. Experience of facilitating health promotion sessions.
15. Developing service user leaflets and training resources.
16. Liaison with catering services.
17. Supervising Dietetic Assistant Practitioners and dietetic students.

The Trust mandates all post holders who require a DBS for their role to subscribe to the DBS Update Service. You will be required to enrol for this service for a fee of £16 per year and maintain registration throughout your employment with GMMH.
