Main duties of the job
The brain injury support worker will be responsible for supporting the client with daily routines, attending a local day centre, assisting with food shopping and meal preparation, supporting the client to attend rehabilitation therapies, and accompanying the client on social visits and activities. The support worker will need to be calm, kind, and attentive, with the ability to set clear boundaries consistently. Experience working with clients with complex needs and behaviors that can challenge is preferred.

Our active client will need clear support to maintain boundaries to enjoy social interactions safely in the community.
Our client has a cat and two snakes and is a real animal lover – support with caring for the animals is required. Snake handling is not essential!
You will be joining an established and experienced team of support workers and therapists who will train you on how best to support the client.
Key Responsibilities:
* Support with daily routines and some assistance with showering.
* Attend a local day centre (board games, cooking, social interaction).
* Assist with food shopping and meal planning.
* Support the client to prepare and cook meals that can be eaten together.
* Support the client to attend rehab therapies, including triking and hydrotherapy (no pool entry required).
* Support visits to see family and friends, attend the gym, and go to local cafes and restaurants.
* Attend personal and group supervision sessions.
The client follows a regular routine, preferring to be in bed by 6:30 pm and usually asleep by 9:00 pm. Overnight needs are minimal, mainly focusing on fall prevention and safety.
About You:
* Experience as a brain injury support worker confident working with complex needs and behaviors that can challenge.
* Calm, kind, attentive, and able to set clear boundaries consistently. This is essential for this client.
* Comfortable providing care over a full 24-hour period, including overnight supervision.
