The Role
An excellent opportunity has arisen for a Financial Accountant to join the Finance Team within the SSE Customer Energy Solutions business. This role is central to delivering accurate and timely financial reporting for the regulated Gas NI business, with a strong emphasis on month-end close, statutory accounting, financial controls, and audit support.
You will take responsibility for preparing statutory accounts and coordinating the statutory audit for the Airtricity Gas NI company. You will also work closely with the Internal Control Business Partner to maintain robust financial controls, ensure compliance with relevant accounting standards, and support continuous process improvement across the finance function. This is a full-time role with flexibility on working location.
You will
- Deliver month-end close activities, including journals, reconciliations, and variance analysis.
- Prepare statutory financial statements and ensure compliance with accounting standards.
- Support and coordinate the annual statutory audit process as well as quarterly and ad hoc submissions.
- Maintaining high standards of financial control, ensuring compliance with internal policies and external regulation.
- Provide clear, insightful financial analysis to operational colleagues.
- Support process improvements and contributing to enhanced efficiency within the finance team.
You will be
- Fully qualified accountant (ACA / ACCA / CIMA or equivalent) with 2+ years post-qualification experience.
- Strongly experienced in month-end, statutory reporting, and financial control processes.
- Solid technical accounting knowledge and good understanding of current standards.
- Proficient in MS Office applications (particularly Excel) and comfortable working with complex data.
- Strong at communicating, organisation, and time-management skills.
- Knowledge of the Irish energy market is advantageous but not essential.
