Overview
We are seeking a full-time Lecturer to join the Occupational Therapy team within the School of Healthcare Sciences. In this role, you will be supported to deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to the development of our education programmes. You will support students to develop key skills at undergraduate and/or postgraduate levels. The successful candidate will pursue excellence in teaching and scholarship, with a passion for student-focused, innovative teaching. You should be well-organised, collaborative, and demonstrate leadership qualities. Applicants should hold a postgraduate degree at PhD level, and possess relevant clinical expertise. Current registration as an Occupational Therapist with the Health and Care Professions Council (HCPC) is essential. An enhanced criminal records declaration will be required. As part of their probation individuals will be supported to participate in the Cardiff University Education and Fellowship Programme which will give you accreditation as a Higher Education Academy Fellow on completion of the programme.

Responsibilities
* Design and deliver teaching on the Occupational Therapy and other relevant programmes as part of a module team and lead modules. Grade 7: independently contribute to module and course development and lead modules.
* Inspire undergraduate and postgraduate students under the guidance of a mentor / module leader and develop skills in assessment methods and in providing constructive feedback to students.
* Supervise the work of students including Undergraduate and Masters students and co-supervision of Postgraduate Research students. Grade 7: Acts as a PGR progress review panel member as required.
* Supply pastoral care through acting as a Personal Tutor and providing support and guidance to students, building and establishing trust.
* Contribute to scholarship in the area of work through participation in conferences, seminars and other academic and professional forums to disseminate the results of individual scholarship.
* Engage in scholarly activity through journal articles and/or outputs which advance knowledge within the area of work.
* Contribute to scholarship through interdisciplinary work within the wider university community and through administrative activities and committee work.
* Engage effectively with industrial, commercial and public sector organisations and other academic institutions regionally and nationally to raise the School's profile and pursue collaboration opportunities.
* Participate in School administration and activities to promote the School to the wider University and the outside world.
* Undergo personal and professional development appropriate to and enhancing performance in the role of lecturer; mentor colleagues with less experience.

Qualifications and Skills
* Postgraduate degree at PhD level or above in a related subject area and a registrable qualification in Occupational Therapy. Grade 7: Postgraduate Certificate in University Teaching and Learning or equivalent qualification or relevant experience.
* Evidence of continuing professional development and a growing portfolio of scholarship.
* Teaching experience at undergraduate/postgraduate level (may include practice education) with significant experience at Grade 7.
* Demonstrate specialist knowledge and understanding of current advancements, disseminating this within occupational therapy.
* Ability to design, deliver and continuously develop modules across the School's teaching programmes or evidence of similar skills in practice.
* Excellent communication skills with the ability to present complex ideas clearly to others using a range of media; ability to provide appropriate pastoral support to students and act as a personal tutor; Grade 7: ability to act as module leader and coordinate with others to meet student needs.
* Proven ability to demonstrate creativity, innovation and teamwork.
Desirable Criteria
* Proven ability to work without close supervision and adapt to changing organisational needs; willingness to take responsibility for academically related administration.
* Pastoral, Communication and Team Working: strong interpersonal and mentoring capabilities.
Salary and Benefits
Salary: £41,064 - £46,049 per annum (Grade 6) or £51,753 - £56,535 per annum (Grade 7). Appointments at Cardiff University are usually made at the bottom of the scale unless in exceptional circumstances.
