(This role can be based out of our Didcot, Wellingborough or Hatfield Distribution Centres)
We are excited to offer the opportunity of a Fleet Support Technician to support the Fleet Engineer & the Network Transport and Delivery Teams to ensure a safe and compliant fleet with maximum asset availability.
The role will act as first-line support as the primary contact for Transport & Delivery teams, fielding enquiries and escalating complex issues to Fleet Engineering Manager where necessary.
Responsibilities
* Issue Resolution: Monitor, manage & resolve escalated fleet-related issues to resolve VOR turnaround, ensuring timely communication and follow-up with relevant stakeholders, through liaising with suppliers, workshops and third-party providers to ensure prompt vehicle servicing and repairs.
* Support the Transport & Delivery teams during peak periods to ensure fleet availability, to be able to deliver operational excellence.
* Compliance Monitoring: Support the engineering team in ensuring all vehicles meet DVSA and internal compliance standards. Collaborate with the audit team to complete site audits on maintenance standards to ensure a safe and legal operation across VMU and DCs.
* Ensure our VMU & service providers maintain the highest standards of maintenance and compliance with excellent health and safety standards.
* Managing 3rd party providers against VMU contracts T&Cs
* Support the Transport & Delivery team management of their costs from suppliers, challenge any areas of opportunities. Review and manage recharge damage invoices ensure the quotes are valid and reasonable – collaborate with fleet engineer
Essential
* A willingness to travel where necessary, to attend sites and scoping meetings across the UK. Whilst on these visits, represent Booker to the highest level of professionalism and excellence.
* IRTEC inspectors’ qualification minimum
* City & Guilds Level 2
* Class 1 / Class 2 Licence
* LGV technical knowledge
* Previous experience in a fleet support, transport operations, or engineering administration role (HGV experience preferred).
* Strong understanding of HGV maintenance and compliance requirements
* Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to manage multiple stakeholders.
Desirable
* CPC Holder advantageous
* Supporting colleagues and exceptional teamwork
* Able to analyse data Interrogating our Fleet Maintenance platform.
* A passion to be excellent and a drive to make a change.
* Experience in Transport & Logistics
* Knowledge of Vehicles Road Transport law (especially Driver’s hours and vehicles servicing etc.)
* Experience with fleet administration
* Knowledge of Operator licencing compliance
