Senior Legal Counsel – Commercial (FTC, Maternity Cover)

The world's largest specialist insurance and reinsurance marketplace is seeking a Senior Legal Counsel (Commercial) to join the Legal function on a fixed-term basis to cover maternity leave. This is an exciting opportunity for an experienced commercial/technology lawyer to work within a dynamic in-house team, advising on a wide variety of contracts and projects central to the Lloyd’s market.
You will work as part of a collaborative team of three Senior Legal Counsels, reporting directly into the Head of Commercial Legal. The role offers exposure across the business, working closely with procurement, operations, and IT teams.
Key Responsibilities
* Drafting, reviewing and negotiating a broad range of commercial and technology contracts, including:
* Software licences, SaaS agreements, Supplier agreements, Outsourcing arrangements, Data transfer agreements, NDAs
* Partnering with internal stakeholders (procurement, operations, IT) to deliver pragmatic, business-focused legal advice.
* Supporting strategic projects and ensuring compliance with regulatory and governance requirements.
* Collaborating with colleagues across the wider 15-person Legal team (comprising Corporate, Commercial, and Litigation sub-teams).
About You
* UK qualified solicitor (or equivalent) with 5–8+ PQE.
* Strong background in commercial contracts and technology transactions gained in private practice and/or in-house.
* Ability to manage multiple matters in a fast-paced, complex environment.
* Excellent stakeholder management skills, with a pragmatic and solutions-focused approach.
* Prior knowledge of insurance law is not required.
