About the role: Reporting directly to the Building Services Manager and working closely with the Compliance Coordinator and Head of Site Operations, the Building Services Technician will provide support for all aspects of the management of buildings, projects, assets and equipment across Sygnature Discovery. This will include ensuring they are safe, functional, well-maintained, and compliant with regulations as well as overseeing inspections, maintenance, and repairs to key building systems. This role is a full-time onsite position based at our Nottingham site and requires a degree of flexibility to travel to other sites as required. Role Responsibilities: Ensure safe working practices and that buildings are in compliance with safety and other regulations including fire, smoke, gas, electrical and other safety systems. Manage safe systems of work – issue and manage PTW (Permits To Work), ATW (Approval To Work), POWRA (Point Of Work Risk Assessment) and evaluation of contractors’ RAMS (Risk Assessment Method Statement). Work with the compliance coordinator to investigate compliance breaches and non-compliance issues. Conduct regular inspections to determine which areas in the building need attention. Assist with the maintenance, repairs and servicing of critical plant and equipment and setting up of servicing and maintenance contracts. Trouble shoot building/infrastructure issues e.g., heating, cooling, extraction. Compile and assist with the implementation and management of hazard plans. Provide hands-on support for small-scale tasks such as furniture moves, signage installation, and basic repairs. Skills & Qualifications: A practical, hands-on approach with the ability to carry out minor repairs and general maintenance tasks independently. Strong understanding of a working laboratory and basic maintenance and safety requirements. Excellent diagnostic and problem-solving skills to identify issues and effectively deal with them. Effective communication skills to effectively communicate with managers, colleagues, contractors and internal customers. Previous experience of working in a tenanted laboratory environment is desirable. A full clean UK driving licence is essential.
