The Reception Teacher will plan continuous provision, lead systematic phonics and design high-impact adult-led sessions. The Reception Teacher will also profile children against the Early Learning Goals and communicate progress to parents in the term that starts January 2026. The school will support the Reception Teacher with mentor coaching from the moment planning begins before January 2026 and through ongoing CPD after January 2026.
Reception Teacher responsibilities
• Lead a Reception class as the Reception Teacher, delivering daily phonics and language-rich activities.
• Use assessment as the Reception Teacher to shape next steps and run focused interventions.
• Work with parents as the Reception Teacher to ensure continuity between home and school and support transition into Year 1 after January 2026.
• Contribute to whole-school EYFS development as the Reception Teacher, attending moderation and training scheduled in January 2026.
Candidate profile — Reception Teacher
We seek a nurturing Reception Teacher with QTS/EYTS, strong Early Years practice and a reflective approach. The Reception Teacher should be confident leading phonics and early number routines, and able to plan creative provision. The Reception Teacher will be expected to start handover and planning prior to January 2026, attend the induction week in January 2026, and teach full-time as the Reception Teacher from January 2026.
