The Role As the Year 2 Teacher, you will plan and deliver engaging and structured lessons that meet the needs of all learners. You will work closely with teaching assistants, phase leaders, and senior leadership to maintain high standards of teaching and learning. Key Responsibilities Plan, deliver, and assess high-quality lessons across the Year 2 curriculum Use formative and summative assessment to inform planning and differentiation Support pupils in achieving strong outcomes in reading, writing, and maths Create a safe, inclusive, and engaging classroom environment Promote positive behaviour, independence, and confidence Work collaboratively with teaching assistants and KS1 colleagues Communicate effectively with parents and carers regarding pupil progress Participate in staff meetings, CPD, and whole-school initiatives Support pupils’ transition from Key Stage 1 into Key Stage 2 The Ideal Candidate The successful applicant will: Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) Have experience teaching in Key Stage 1, ideally Year 2 Demonstrate strong knowledge of the KS1 curriculum and assessment expectations Be confident in differentiating learning to meet diverse needs Have strong classroom management and organisational skills Be reflective, proactive, and committed to professional development Be dedicated to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children Early Career Teachers are encouraged to apply and will be supported with mentoring and guidance.
