The role
Quantity Surveyor
Location: Leighton Buzzard (Office-based with hybrid working – minimum 2–3 days per week in the office)
Due to continued growth and an increasing order book, we're looking for an experienced Quantity Surveyor to join our friendly commercial team.
This is an excellent opportunity to become part of a specialist contractor delivering high-quality landscape and external works projects, with the chance to take ownership of your own portfolio of projects from start to finish.
About the Role
Working within a small commercial team (currently comprising the Commercial Manager and one QS), you'll be responsible for managing the full commercial function across multiple projects valued between £100,000 and £2.5 million.
This is a hands-on role that goes beyond traditional quantity surveying. You'll work closely with Contracts Managers, be involved in material procurement, and play a key role in supporting successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
* Managing the commercial aspects of multiple projects from inception to final account.
* Cost control, valuations, variations, and final accounts.
* Procurement of materials and supplier management.
* Supporting Contracts Managers throughout project delivery.
* Identifying commercial risks and opportunities.
* Building strong relationships with clients, suppliers, and project teams.
* Ensuring accurate reporting and commercial performance across your projects.
About You
We're looking for someone who enjoys understanding how projects are actually built—not just managing subcontract packages from a high level.
You'll ideally have:
* 4–5+ years' Quantity Surveying experience.
* Experience working for a landscape contractor, groundworks or civil engineering subcontractor, or a related specialist contractor such as roofing or waterproofing.
* Strong commercial awareness with excellent attention to detail.
* The ability to manage your own workload and projects independently.
* Good communication and organisational skills.
* A collaborative approach and a genuine interest in supporting project delivery.
What We Offer
* Competitive salary (dependent on experience).
* Opportunity to work on a diverse range of specialist projects.
* A supportive, close-knit commercial team.
* Employee Owned Business benefits, including the opportunity to influence business decisions and receive employee ownership dividend payments.
* Long-term career development within a growing business.
If you're looking for a role where you can take ownership, work closely with project teams, and make a genuine impact within a growing specialist contractor, we'd love to hear from you
