2 months contract with a local authority
Job Purpose
* The Grounds Operative plays a key role in supporting the Council’s objective of maintaining a safe, clean, and sustainable environment. The role involves maintaining public open spaces, verges, horticultural areas, sports facilities, cemeteries, schools, and contracted sites. The postholder may also assist Street Services when required, contributing to overall local environmental quality.
Key Duties/Accountabilities
* Carry out grass-cutting activities using hand-held and ride ‑on equipment.
* Maintain horticultural features such as shrub beds and annual bedding areas.
* Undertake landscaping of open spaces.
* Mark and maintain various sports facilities.
* Carry out arboriculture work as required.
Essential Experience Required
* Experience in grounds maintenance, landscaping, or a similar outdoor/manual role (desirable).
* Experience operating grounds maintenance machinery and tools (desirable).
Essential Qualifications Required
* Full clean UK driving licence (HGV licence desirable if applicable).
* Willingness to undertake all required training, including:
* Health & Safety
* Safeguarding
* Machinery and equipment operation
* Welsh language skills desirable (if applicable to the council).
Additional information to note
* Working hours: 37 hours per week
* WORK PATTERN: Monday to Thursday 7.30am to 5pm, Friday 7.30am to 3pm
* We work on Bi weekly payment schedule
