Overview

Residential Childcare Worker

Make a Difference Every Day

At NW Care Group, we believe that every child deserves to feel safe, valued, and loved. We’re looking for compassionate, resilient, and dedicated Residential Childcare Officers to join our homes across Greater Manchester. This is more than a job — it’s an opportunity to change young lives by offering understanding, stability, and care to children aged 7–17 who have faced complex life experiences. If you have a genuine love for supporting young people and believe in the power of kindness, consistency, and hope — we’d love to hear from you.

About NW Care Group

NW Care Group provides nurturing, trauma-informed residential homes for children and young people with a range of emotional and behavioural needs. We work to build trust, encourage growth, and create a sense of belonging — ensuring every child is seen, heard, and supported to reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

* Acting as a positive role model for young people and colleagues, promoting a culture of respect, inclusion, and warmth.
* Providing personalised care that meets each child’s emotional, physical, and educational needs.
* Supporting young people through challenges with empathy, patience, and consistency.
* Contributing to care plans, risk assessments, and behaviour support strategies.
* Ensuring compliance with safeguarding procedures and the Children’s Homes Regulations.
* Supporting the daily running of the home — including activity planning, reporting, and liaising with families and professionals.
* Encouraging young people to take part in activities that build confidence, independence, and joy.

About You / Qualifications

* We’re looking for people who care deeply about helping children overcome adversity and find their place in the world.
* You’ll bring:
o A genuine love for supporting young people and helping them achieve positive outcomes.
o A calm, empathetic, and trauma-informed approach to care.
o Resilience and emotional intelligence when faced with challenging situations.
o Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
o A desire to learn and grow within a supportive organisation.
* Preferred qualifications and experience:
o Level 3 Diploma for Residential Childcare (or equivalent), or a willingness to work towards it.
o 1–2 years’ experience working with children or young people in care, education, or support settings.
o Understanding of child protection, safeguarding, and relevant childcare legislation.
o A full UK driving licence (preferred).

Why Join NW Care Group?

* We know that great care starts with people who are supported and valued. That’s why we offer:
* Comprehensive paid induction and continuous professional development.
* Clear progression pathways into senior and management roles.
* Employee recognition awards, including:
