Mechanical Engineering Technician – High Skills | £30,711–£32,642 (including LW) | Permanent | Full-Time (36 hrs/week)

We are working with a leading Further Education provider in West London to recruit a High Skills Mechanical Engineering Technician for a permanent, full-time opportunity. This role offers a chance to support the next generation of engineers in a dynamic, well-equipped environment.
Responsibilities:
* Maintain and service mechanical engineering equipment across labs (Mechanical Science, Thermofluid, Project Lab).
* Support teaching teams with equipment setup and material preparation for practical sessions.
* Supervise students in workshop and lab environments, ensuring safety and effective learning.
* Conduct risk assessments, maintain records, and ensure compliance with Health & Safety policies.
* Liaise with staff to ensure adequate stock levels and technical resources.
* Assist students in using lab equipment, including demonstrations.
Person Specification:
Essential:
* Degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent).
* Minimum 2 years’ experience with mechanical testing equipment and lab tools.
* Skilled in bench fitting, drilling, milling, and turning.
* Up-to-date knowledge of Health & Safety in technical settings.
* Strong communication, teamwork, and problem-solving skills.
* Passion for working with young people or in a training environment.
* Self-motivated, organized, proactive.
Desirable:
* Experience with CNC machinery, vacuum forming, grinding, band saws.
* Industrial experience in mechanical or engineering sectors.
* Experience supervising learners or supporting educational delivery.
* Knowledge of safeguarding principles and promoting learner welfare.
