Overview
This is a great opportunity for a newly qualified or suitably experienced Speech and Language Therapist to join our dedicated Stroke Rehabilitation Team at Doncaster and Bassetlaw Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust (DBTH). The post holder will work within a high performing multidisciplinary team and be based at The Fred and Ann Green rehabilitation centre providing assessment and therapy for existing stroke inpatients.
Key Responsibilities
* Provide timely assessment and intensive rehabilitation during the early stages and post‑acute recovery from stroke.
* Conduct specialist assessments and deliver rehabilitation for patients with acquired communication difficulties and dysphagia.
* Work as a member of multi‑disciplinary teams, contributing to team meetings and updating others on own work.
* Support and develop competencies in dysphagia management as required.
* Contribute to delivery of 7‑day services on the Hyperacute Stroke Unit (HASU) where appropriate.
Aims and Opportunities
* Gain experience in stroke and neurology across The Fred and Ann Green rehabilitation centre and Montagu Hospital.
* Provide assessment and intensive therapy to stroke patients with complex communication difficulties.
* Develop standardised competencies in dysphagia management within an acute and rehabilitation setting.
Qualifications and Experience
* Newly qualified or suitably experienced Speech and Language Therapist with a preference for stroke and neurology experience.
* Competence or willingness to develop competency in dysphagia management.
* Excellent communication and team‑working skills, with a flexible and proactive approach.
