Overview
University Hospitals Dorset is seeking a Senior Occupational Therapist to join our Acute Inpatient Therapy Team (AIP) on a fixed‑term contract. The role is based initially at Poole Hospital, with a projected move to the Bournemouth site.
Team & Scope
The AIP Team covers the following areas:
* Medical
* Surgical
* Acute Admission Unit
* Oncology
* Critical Care
You will work with a highly regarded and innovative Acute Therapy Team, providing complex case management, supervision of junior staff, and holistic care in acute inpatient settings.
Key Responsibilities
* Deliver core therapy assessments and specialist interventions, including activity analysis to inform clinical reasoning.
* Lead and support multidisciplinary teams in developing comprehensive treatment plans.
* Supervise and mentor junior therapists and other staff.
* Participate in weekend working on the Acute Assessment Unit to enhance patient care.
* Engage in training and professional development opportunities, and share expertise with colleagues.
* Support the Discharge to Assess and Home First principles, facilitating transitions between hospital and home settings.
Qualifications & Competencies
* Registered Occupational Therapist with the relevant professional body.
* Extensive experience in acute inpatient settings.
* Strong clinical and leadership skills for complex case management.
* Competence in performing core therapy assessments and delivering specialist interventions.
* Excellent communication, teamwork, and decision‑making abilities.
Additional Information
The position requires flexibility across all Trust locations and includes weekend shifts. The interview is scheduled for 28th November 2025. This advert may close early if sufficient applications are received.
