Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisor - 31342
We have two permanent Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Advisor roles available within the Environment Agency. We are seeking dynamic individuals to join our Industrial Decarbonisation and Market Mechanisms Team in the Environment and Business Directorate (E&B), focusing on driving the decarbonisation of the economy.
The Advisor role involves:
* Supporting the development of decarbonisation and energy efficiency regimes, with a focus on specific regimes
* Contributing to the preparation, review, and publication of technical guidance
* Advising on issues during regime operation, including policy influence and stakeholder engagement
* Monitoring, reporting, and verification (MRV) of emissions and energy data to ensure accurate measurement and reporting
* Developing and expanding regulatory regimes, such as UK ETS for maritime and heat networks regulations
The role requires responding swiftly to deadlines and working across teams with diverse specialisms. The team leads UK policies to reduce industrial greenhouse gases, including emissions trading, low-carbon clusters, and other schemes.
Ideal candidates will have:
* Ability to work effectively with diverse backgrounds and encourage diversity
* Experience working with multiple teams and understanding legislation
* Strong communication and creative thinking skills
* Experience analyzing complex data to support policy or process changes
* A background in science, engineering, or environmental sciences, with an interest in policy implementation
