Job title: Software Engineer (Java)

Scope
Akkodis is seeking a Software Engineer to join our growing team within our Aerospace and Defence capability. This role focuses on strengthening software engineering capability, supporting the development of spacecraft data systems, and contributing to the maturity of software processes and deliverables across the function.
Role
You will play a key role in the design, development, testing, and optimisation of software prototypes, while working within an agile delivery environment.
Responsibilities
* Develop and deliver software prototypes within a data architecture environment
* Contribute to the definition and refinement of software use cases and system behaviours
* Develop, test, and optimise Java-based applications in line with project requirements
* Produce high-quality technical documentation, including user guides and test specifications
* Support test readiness activities, including preparation for Test Readiness Reviews (TRR)
* Generate and present test reports to stakeholders, including participation in Test Review Boards (TRB) and Delivery Review Boards (DRB)
* Demonstrate and present developed software solutions to stakeholders at the required level of technical detail
* Work within an Agile/Scrum framework, contributing to sprint planning, reviews, and retrospectives
Required Experience
* Proven experience in software development within a professional environment
* Solid understanding of Object-Oriented Analysis and Design (OOAD)
* Experience working within Agile/Scrum delivery frameworks
* Experience within aerospace, defence, or safety-critical environments
* Knowledge of software verification, validation, and testing processes
Required Skills
* Strong hands-on experience with Java development
* Ability to analyse and work with legacy codebases
