Job Summary
We are seeking an enthusiastic and highly motivated individual to join our Senior Biomedical Scientist team in Cellular Pathology. Located at Lincoln County Hospital, the department delivers a centralised Histopathology service for Lincolnshire's two NHS Trusts and their five main hospital sites, receiving around 65,000 requests per annum. The laboratory provides a UKAS accredited service including Paraffin wax Histology, Diagnostic Cytopathology, Morphological staining, Special Staining and Immunocytochemistry. The Directorate has deployed whole slide imaging and first line Molecular diagnostics.
Main duties of the job
* Support the Laboratory Manager to coordinate day-to-day activities of the department and staff to ensure efficient workflow and delivery of a quality service.
* Act as lead for Immunocytochemistry, first line Molecular testing and staff training.
* Support the management team to deliver the Directorate’s Quality Management requirements and maintain UKAS accreditation.
* Promote continuous improvement and Lean-driven service development to optimize workflow and workforce efficiency.
* Support and fully participate in operating a seven-day service as a senior team member.

Person Specification
Essential
* State registration with Health Professions Council
* Fellowship of the Institute of Biomedical Sciences (FIBMS) or MSc or equivalent relevant experience
* Minimum 2 years’ experience at band 6 in Cellular Pathology
Desirable
* Management qualification or equivalent experience
* IBMS Higher Specialist Examination
* Experience supervising staff
Occupational Experience
Essential
* Experience of training staff
Desirable
* Evidence of Project Management skills
* Evidence of personnel management
