Job Description POST: Planner (Intermediate) REPORTS TO: Head of Planning DEPARTMENT: Planning ROLE DEFINITION The Planner is responsible for developing, monitoring, and maintaining project schedules / project programmes to support the successful delivery of Phoenix ME's construction projects. Working closely with the Design, CAD, Operational and Commercial teams, the Planner will ensure that programmes are realistic, resource-optimised, and aligned with contractual and operational requirements. This role plays a key part in identifying risks, tracking progress, and supporting decision-making throughout the project lifecycle. KEY RESPONSIBILITIES Develop detailed project programmes using planning software such as Primavera P6, Asta Powerproject, MS Project Liaise with project teams to gather input and validate programme logic, durations, and sequencing Conduct site walks to obtain progress from active construction works. Monitor progress against baseline schedules and update programmes accordingly Produce lookahead schedules, progress reports, and critical path analysis Identify and communicate potential delays or risks, proposing mitigation strategies Coordinate MEP programmes with main contractor, structural, architectural, and specialist subcontractor programmes. Identify and manage interfaces between MEP systems (HVAC, electrical, public health, fire, controls). Maintain programme quality and ensure compliance with planning standards and project procedures. Coordinate with procurement and commercial teams to align delivery schedules with project timelines Maintain accurate records of programme changes. Maintain an up-to-date AsBuilt programme. Support claims and extension of time submissions and conduct delay analysis and entitlement assessments where required. Attend project meetings and provide planning insight to internal and external stakeholders Develop and maintain testing, commissioning, and handover programmes PERSON SPECIFICATION Desirable Essential Strong communication skills and confidence working with site and design teams. x HNC/HND or degree in construction management, engineering, or a related discipline x Proven experience in a planning role within the construction or building services sector x Proficiency in planning software (e.g. Primavera P6, MS Project) and knowledge of best practices x Strong understanding of construction sequencing, resource planning, and project controls x Strong understanding of MEP construction sequencing and interfaces x Exposure to delay analysis techniques (e.g. impact analysis, as-built vs as-planned) x Membership of a relevant professional body (e.g. APM, CIOB) x Experience supporting tender planning and bid submissions x Familiarity with NEC or JCT contract environments x Knowledge of BIM integration with planning tools x This job description is intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed.
