*About Unity Advisory*
Unity Advisory is a private equity-backed consultancy providing hands-on support to CFOs and finance teams across transformation, transactions, and operational excellence. Backed by Warburg Pincus, we're scaling fast – and we're building robust internal infrastructure to support that growth from day one.
The Role
We're hiring a Head of IT to lead Unity's technology function end-to-end, covering tooling, security, support, and governance. This is a hands-on role, ideal for someone who's built and run IT in a fast-paced, high-expectation environment, with a strong focus on end-user experience and delivering IT services that keep a fast-moving, high-performing team productive.
You'll design and deliver the IT systems, policies, and processes that make life easier for our people, keep our data secure, and enable us to take advantage of AI and automation as we scale.
You'll work closely with our CTO and CPO to ensure the technology setup aligns with Unity's growth and goals. There's structure to build, decisions to make, and a business to support, and we're looking for someone who can bring clarity and momentum without overengineering.
*Key Responsibilities*
Infrastructure & End-User Technology
* Own the internal IT environment, including Microsoft 365, Azure AD, endpoint management (Intune), and core collaboration and file management tools.
* Manage secure provisioning and support of laptops and devices (in partnership with our external IT provider).
* Ensure an excellent end-user experience for onboarding, access, remote work, and ongoing support – particularly for our distributed consultant workforce.
* Security, Risk & Governance
* Develop proportionate, business-friendly policies across acceptable use, access control, data handling, and device security.
* Implement practical controls for identity and access management, encryption, endpoint protection, and incident response.
* Use your understanding of frameworks like Cyber Essentials, ISO 27001, or SOC 2 to guide scalable, pragmatic governance — even if full certification isn't required right away.
* Help prepare the business for potential future audit, assurance or client due diligence activity.
Tooling & Vendor Engagement
* Lead evaluation and implementation of new tools and systems as the business grows – balancing usability, security, and scalability.
* Own the relationship with our outsourced IT partner (e.g. for laptop builds, helpdesk, and MDM tooling).
* Contribute to decision-making around other IT vendors and tools in collaboration with operations and finance.
Strategic Planning & Leadership
* Define a scalable, cloud-first IT strategy that supports growth, international expansion, and evolving client needs.
* Advise senior leadership on IT risk, infrastructure maturity, and future investment.
* Lay the foundations for a function that may scale over time (e.g. outsourced model, specialist hires, managed services).
*What We're Looking For*
You'll thrive in this role if you:
* You're both a doer and a thinker, someone who can roll up their sleeves and think strategically. You've built internal IT from scratch (or close to it) in a fast-growth, high-trust business, ideally in consulting, professional services, or another client-facing environment.
* Can own the IT function end-to-end – from strategy and tooling to governance and day-to-day operations.
* Are comfortable creating structure where none exists – building policies, systems, and processes that are pragmatic, clear, and effective.
* Understand security and risk from both a technical and commercial lens – you know how to be robust without being a blocker.
* Are technically fluent in Microsoft-first environments – M365, Azure AD, Intune, and related tooling.
*Essential Experience*
* Proven experience leading internal IT in a high-growth organisation headcount), ideally PE-backed or professional services-led.
* Strong practical knowledge of Microsoft 365, Azure AD, endpoint management, and identity/access controls.
* Familiarity with frameworks like ISO27001, SOC 2, or NIST – and the judgment to apply what's appropriate for scale.
* Experience working with (or managing) outsourced IT providers.
* Excellent communication and stakeholder skills – able to influence and advise at leadership level.
Why Join Unity Advisory?
* Shape the internal IT landscape from the ground up – you'll build the systems, policies, and processes we scale with.
* Own the outcomes – you'll be the go-to expert, with the autonomy to make meaningful decisions.
* Work with smart, collaborative people – we move fast, value trust, and care about quality.
* Build for scale – this role grows as Unity grows, and you'll be central to making that happen.
