Head of Financial Risk - Insurance - £120,000-£140,000
An opportunity has arisen to play an integral role in the next stage of this insurer's journey. You will lead the financial risk function, reporting to the CRO and working closely with the investment director.
Your role will involve leading the Financial Risk area of the Risk Function, providing appropriate insight and assurance to the CRO regarding the financial (insurance, market, counter-party credit, credit) related risks (both current and emerging) facing the firm, and assessing whether capital or other mechanisms adequately reflect these risks.
The Head of Financial Risk will play a key role in:
* Linking the company's strategic objectives to the understanding and management of financial risks in support of these objectives.
* Assessing the adequacy of financial risk modelling outputs to inform business decisions.
* Developing and maintaining effective relationships to support these activities.
* Ensuring the financial risk framework remains appropriate, considering internal requirements and industry developments.
The Financial Risk team operates within the remit of the Chief Risk Officer and collaborates with risk, actuarial, investment, and finance departments.
This role is subject to the Senior Managers and Certification Regime, a regulatory requirement of the FCA and PRA. The occupant will be a Certified Person Key Function Holder.
Responsibilities include:
* Establishing and maintaining a comprehensive financial risk strategy, including policies, risk appetite, stress testing, risk MI, and governance, aligned with the Enterprise Risk Management Framework.
* Providing assurance over Financial Risk activities through reviews and oversight.
* Reporting risk MI to the CRO and governance bodies.
* Contributing to the development of an effective risk framework and culture as a senior Risk leadership team member.
* Supporting functions in identifying, managing, and monitoring financial risks related to insurance pricing, technical provisions, reserves, investments, asset & liability management, liquidity, and pension funds.
* Reviewing and validating analyses of financial risk experiences and reporting implications.
* Advising on risk mitigation strategies across various risk types, including operational risks.
* Supporting organizational understanding of risks from climate change.
* Leading validation of solvency capital assessments, standard or economic capital basis.
