This role is an integral part of a fast-paced Product Lifecycle Management based digital transformation project. This transformation project underpins the delivery of world leading defence products. The enabling software for this transformation project includes Siemens NX, Teamcenter and Capital. The transformation project has reach across the full breadth of the Product Lifecycle, initially focusing on the Design and Manufacturing Engineering phases. Job Summary: As part of a major business transformation programme implementing Siemens NX and Teamcenter, the NX Competency Lead will play a pivotal role in developing a high-performing, skilled, and engaged community of NX users initially across Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, and Quality, but will later expand into other areas of Engineering. This role is responsible for creating, managing, and continually evolving the competency framework, working with the training team to ensure consistent and appropriate learning courses are available and allocated and a user engagement approach that ensures we fully unlock the value of NX. Working closely with NX Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) and business Capability Owners, the Competency Lead will translate expert knowledge into rich, immersive adoption experiences, drive the use of best practices, and support the growth of empowered key users who become the future digital design and manufacturing leaders. Key Responsibilities: -Competency Development & Learning collaboration -Develop and own the NX competency framework across all relevant disciplines (Design, Manufacturing Engineering, Quality). -Translate SME-level knowledge into accessible, structured adoption content including guides, tutorials, models, and work alongside our training team to provide e-learning modules, and hands-on workshops. -Build and maintain a library of rich, engaging materials aligned with business standards and NX/Teamcenter processes. -Ensure all competency materials reflect the latest system configuration, standards, and methods introduced by the transformation programme. Community Building & User Engagement -Grow and nurture an active community of NX users, including Key Users, Champions, and advanced practitioners. -Lead the user engagement strategy through communities of practice, drop-in clinics, newsletters, user events etc. -Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to Key Users to develop them into future digital design and manufacturing experts. -Foster a culture of continuous learning and knowledge sharing. Governance, Standards & Compliance -Ensure all learning approaches and user adoption activities are aligned with business standards, processes, and governance. -Collaborate with NX SMEs, Process Owners, and Configuration Leads to maintain consistency in methods and tool usage. -Promote and enforce standardised approaches to modelling, drafting, PMI, variant management, and manufacturing approaches within NX. Adoption, Performance & Reporting -Monitor and report on adoption metrics, competency progress, user engagement, and areas requiring intervention. -Identify skill gaps, training needs, and emerging challenges across user groups. -Manage, triage, and track user queries, escalating to SMEs where required. Continuous Improvement -Stay current with Siemens NX capabilities, industry best practice, and digital engineering trends, ensuring the competency roadmap evolves accordingly. -Contribute to the long-term Digital Engineering strategy as part of the transformation programme. Qualifications & Experience: -Strong proficiency in Siemens NX, ideally across modelling, assemblies, drafting, PMI, or manufacturing modules. -Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills across technical and non-technical audiences. -Experience working in engineering or manufacturing environments. -Ability to translate complex topics into clear, engaging learning content. -Proactive, organised, and able to manage multiple activities simultaneously. Preferred Skills: -Experience with Teamcenter or other PLM systems. -Experience leading communities of practice, user networks, or change adoption initiatives. -Background in Design Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or Quality Engineering. -Knowledge of Model-Based Engineering or Model-Based Definition principles. -Familiarity with digital transformation programmes or engineering system rollouts Working Conditions: Remote working on client laptop/equipment. Onsite client office days typically 2 day a fortnight. Onsite workshops typically conducted on client site and occasionally or software Vendor locations. Monday to Friday, 40 hours per week.
